Hikes, MOVEmber, Walks, and Line Dancing, Oh My!

Updated: Dec 18, 2023

The weather is cool but that doesn't always mean you have to stay inside! Come join us for our Sunday hikes beginning July 22nd. We will meet for four weeks and hike in Yarmouth Port, Barnstable, Mashpee, and Truro! Did you know that exposure to forests strengthens our immune system, reduces blood pressure, increases energy, boosts our mood, and helps us regain and maintain our focus in ways that treeless environments just don't! Walks in the woods can also put you in a better mood. As you walk, your body creates endorphins that may have a positive effect on how you feel and reduce anxiety! I hope you will join us!

Are you already registered for our MOVEmber Challenge?

If you are going to be putting in the mileage, you might as well make it count? Join us this November from anywhere in the world for our Cape Cod Challenge! During this challenge you will walk/run/hike a total of seventy miles of beautiful Cape Cod at your own pace! Not on Cape Cod? That's ok - just complete those seventy miles and you'll be with us in spirit! Grab a friend, co-worker, or loved one and get moving! I hope you will join us!

Mental Health issues are overwhelming our communities, impacting individuals and families with sometimes life-changing results. These are our family, our friends, our co-workers. At times life can be overwhelming, stigma keeps us from seeking help, and when help is sought there are limited options available. A portion of the proceeds of this event will be donated to Sharing Kindness. Sharing Kindness provides suicide prevention, mental health education, and grief support programs on the Cape and Islands.

Ok, so maybe being out in the fresh air is not your thing?

Well, we got you covered both literally and figuratively! We will be walking on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center on their beautiful indoor track. We begin walking on November 28th through January 2nd. We will be there from 4:30 - 5:30PM and would love to have you if you can make it. Walk at your own pace for as long as you choose.

Come Dance with us beginning on January 22nd in Harwich! Have you ever wanted to learn to line dance? Then this is the time for you to dust off those boots (or perhaps pick up some new ones) and join us at The 204 Cultural Arts Municipal Building! Salty Boots Line Dancing will be teaching you the basic steps you need to have a good time on the dance floor and really connect to the music for an excellent work out! Line dancing is a perfect exercise for improving coordination and balance; as well as increasing cardiovascular health and brain memory! Come and have fun with us! Bring your water and wear sneakers or boots! You will have a blast learning this fun and healthy way to exercise!

Whatever you choose to do this fall, have some fun with it! Research shows that those who consciously or subconsciously smile more live better and longer. They have more energy and tend to be healthier! That's what I call a win-win!
